Historic Daguerrotype

This is a daguerrotype obtained from the archives of a well-known historic source. The provenance is sound and uncompromised.

Note the stiffness of the subjects posing for this photograph. This is characteristic of photo images of the period, since time exposures were relatively long, on the order of several seconds, and the subject had to hold perfectly still to avoid blurring. Often the photographer would arrange the pose by placing a clamp behind the subjects head, to keep them from moving.
