Health Care Debate

Becky, guest blogger, here with a question.

Should age and/or mental state (ie; dementia) be considered when deciding intensity of care as in CPR, dialysis, ventilator support, etc?

Any opinions?

I thought about this after watching the movie "Million Dollar Baby". You must follow your own counsel, but I think quality of life questions must be answered. If I am ready for for the end of life, and cannot be sustained without further heroic measures, it may be time to turn off the machines, and stand back to let nature take its course. On the other hand, nature can often be cruel and vicious. Don't let that be the determining factor. Take reasonable measures to preserve life, even when hope seems lost...
