Neil Young: Heart of Gold

"Heart Of Gold"

I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner
for a heart of gold.
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean
for a heart of gold
I've been in my mind,
it's such a fine line
That keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

Keep me searching
for a heart of gold
You keep me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm growing old.
I've been a miner
for a heart of gold.

Cindy...

It's nice, in this world, to have met so many with a heart of gold--or at least have gold in them. I think there is much more gold than we give credit for on the bad days.

Love you,
Cindy

Cindy,

You live in a different world. Mine has changed often, but I relate very strongly to the sadness in Neil Young's song. One of the things my most recent stay in the hospital helped me to accept is that I AM really a very ODD sort of person. My true peer group is vanishingly small. I have a difficulty time finding people that make a good compatible match, mentally spiritually physically and all ways. When I was growing up that meant I was either lonely or grouped with misfits, usually underachievers.

Pay attention, Cindy, because some or all of your own kids seem so to me. They don't find their equals until later, early college years. Tell them to be patient and befriend lesser people, but keep them at arms length until they find someone that can truly comlerment and challege them to grow for the rest of their life. Someone with as full a repetoire of talents and gifts as God has blessed them with.

Heavenly Father holds us responsible for using our talents wisely. Don't let you kids be wasted because they befriend someone unworthy of their trust. I am not denigrating anyone's talents, just sayinhg that it is wrong to be unequally yoked -- when that happens, both will end up unhappy.
